Jürgen Fauth studied American literature, theatre and film in Mainz before moving to the United States, where he earned a PhD in Creative Writing at the Center for Writers, University of Southern Mississippi.
In 1995 he founded Der Brennende Busch, one of the first German-language literary magazines on the web. In New York he spent twelve years writing film criticism for About.com, a New York Times company, and worked on the editorial staff of several American literary journals. In 2008 he founded Fictionaut, a platform for writers and readers, where he published T.C. Boyle, Mona Simpson and Emily St. John Mandel, among others.
His novel Kino was published by Atticus Books in 2012, followed by The Ashakiran Tape in 2015. Since 2008 he has also translated screenplays and subtitles for film and television. In 2025 he completed the screenplay Eigenbedarf and is currently at work on the novel version.
He lives in Berlin, where alongside his own writing he works as a mentor, editor and dramaturg for novelists and screenwriters.
