    europeans have fared well

but won’t it be argentina/brazil yet again?

…is anybody in the u.s. even watching?

  2. John M Says:

    Italy/France England/Germany

The 2002 final was Germany-Brazil, but I was the only one in Queens rooting for Germany. It’s fun around these parts because everybody’s rooting for a different team. You should have seen them last week at the Croatian bar down the street, there are lots of Brazilians, and when Mexico lost, all of Broadway was in mourning. Argentina will be tough, and of course Brazil is the favorite, but these are home games for Germany so there’s hope…

looks like Germany vs. Italy. Now thats some kickie ball I might watch…

    All Europeans…Germany, Italy, Portugal, France.

Has Portugal ever won anything (other than a conquest of the New World)?

Yesterday sucked. I came home from the show the day before, took off for the beer garden, watched the game (lots of Germans AND Italians, giving their own impression of the anthem scene in Casablanca), got WAY too drunk, left in a huff after the first goal, and lost my notebook.

Now, I love my notebook. Seriously: I’d rather have lost my iPod. This thing had three months worth of notes on my new novel, and it appears that the city ate it up. Marcy & I walked the entire way, scanning the ground, and kept hassling the people at the beer garden. No luck. Anyway–I blame Jurgen Klinsmann. If those guys had won, I might still have my Moleskine.

Did you cry like a good German?

    PS

I love the Moleskine too. I like the little one best. I don’t keep notes or do any fiction in it but I make up stupid song lyrics and have 6-7 pages of possible band names…
