The 40 Year-Old Virgin

January 7th, 2006

I laughed exactly once, at the shot-by-shot recreation of “Aquarius,” and that came two hours too late. Painfully unfunny and formulaic. This passes for comedy?

    No way, man.
Incidentally, Kerry and Garrett both liked and/or loved Match Point. I’m going to Kaufman Astoria tomorrow to see it.

(looks like I missed my chance to see The New World. It is out of its one screen already — unless it is getting a wider release in Feb or so.)

Way. It might have rated two stars for a few chuckles but the fact that this thing was over two hours long knocked that down further. Did you really think this was very, very funny? Maybe if I was 12 and drunk those condom jokes might have been hilarious. Catherine Keener’s character made no sense at all.

What happened to your Woody-on-opening-night routine? I tried to have the Match Point conversation with Kerry but he said to talk to Leslie, who hated it.

I thought it was very funny and sweet. So did the rest of the world.

Dunno why I missed Match Point, but I’m going to the matinee tomorrow. Leslie hated it - she also dislikes Casablanca, so that’s the company you’re keeping!
