I picked up this biography by John Baxter at the excellent Frankfurt Kubrick exhibit. The book’s a riot–tight, fast, and full of outrageous episodes. It ends before the release of Eyes Wide Shut. Kubrick’s perfectionism, monomania and intense devotion to his art (and, apparently, nothing but) make for a fascinating read. Of course, he wouldn’t let himself be interviewed for the book.
