Marcy loves this Joy Williams novel, but I threw it away after 200 pages. Way too many characters — some of which are pretty interesting — but the last shreds of plot seemed to disappear a long time ago, and instead there’s constant harping on animals and death, both of which are pretty interesting but didn’t nourish me enough to keep reading. Once the “action” focussed on a nursing home, it lost me altogether.
