Totally, Tenderly, Tragically: Essays and Criticism from a Lifelong Love Affair With the Movies by Philip Lopate

Picked this up in one of the used book stores in the Mission (why does SF have better book stores than NY? Scandalous.) Lopate is a bit haughty every now and then, but some of his insights and judgements are brilliant. Especially good: his profile of Pauline Kael.
